timing scale for a 2.0

Hi guys:

I installed a new distributor into my 912E. I went with the 050. Anyway, my old car doesn't have the proper timing scale attached to the fan housing anymore. Anyone have one I can borrow or have one for sale? Does anyone know if a 914 2.0 scale is okay for my 912E? I know the engines were subtlely different, but I would think the timing would be the same. Just looking for some ideas.

I was thinking somone might even be able to fax me theirs. Why couldn't I just make a template and glue the faxed copy to the template for the purposes of a temporary timing scale? Maybe just a crazy idea.

Thanks,

David

The 912E uses the same timing marks as the 1.8 liter 914 engine. Both used L-jet FI, so they used the same timing methods and marks. The D-jet motors (1.7, 2.0) set their timing at a different RPM, and set it to a different number.

Check this tech article http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_timing/914_timing.htm for details, and for a template you can use for making your own timing marks.

Dave,

Thanks for the help. My car is running twin Webers with an 050 distributor. Is this info still applicable? Just making sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

If that's the case, see the "Timing with Carbs" tech article.
