Thanks for the reply.... any idea where I can get information on these Superspint mufflers? Web searches did not come up with a heck of a lot.
Are they a good alternative to Bursch or stock 914 exhausts? Andrew |

I really doubt that is a Supersprint! First, I have never heard of them making 914/4 mufflers. Second, Supersprint is a fairly high-end Italian manufacturer who uses high-grade stainless steel. This muffler ain't stainless, I would bet from the looks of it.

Hello
I know only two supersprints. 1,7/1,8 had a collectorheader going into one muffler. 2,0 was a big round straight muffler with one exhaustpipe coming out in the middle sweping to the left. The base muffler looks very similar. Maybe US had other Supersprint version as TÜV wasn´t a quest. The Ansa hat two seperate mufflers. Any good muffler manufactorer do mark his products. Grüsse |

OK so this might be a silly question, but is Supersprint and Superspint the same company and just a typo by george or are they different manufacturers?

Hello
AFIR In germany supersprint was known as an italian based company. They had several designs in the 70´s but later focused on 3 units with TÜV approval. In the 80´s they startet to make low cost units for the average frontdrive crowd and quality was droping daramatically. Sometimes you had to cut and reweld headers. The company was then bought by a competitor and quality came back but the old small production units went out off production. Several years ago at the franfurt automechanica they said to restart some old Exhausts for the enthusiasts if they can prolong the existing TÜV approvals. IF not it will be to expensive. They also where interesstet to manufacture 75/76 like catalyc units, also with the early 2,0 flange. But Porsche classic doesn´t show interesst and base output had been 100 units. So I went to Eisenmann to try better deals. But then Eisenmann became OEM and stoped all Porsche aftermarked sales. They just made enough to satisfy my costumers. Grüsse |

Andrew,
Don't know if it will help me or not, but could you take a picture of the exhaust so you can see the insides of the tips. It looks sort of familiar to me...maybe it is just the configuration of the tips. Paul |

Kindof looks homemade to me. I've never seen anything for a 914 that resembles that...

I've got the same exact same exhaust on mine. No idea what it is though. I'll dig through all the paperwork from the PO, maybe I'll dig up a sales receipt or something.

Echocanyons-
