30 year roll
I had to go through the hassle of acquiring an updated registration and title this summer in California when my father-in-law died and left me his '74 911 Coupe that had not be registered or streeted in fifteen years. It had actually been dropped off the registration rolls.
At the inspection the DMV officer told me that since it was a '74 I did not need a current smog certificate but if it had been a '75 I would. Hope this helps. I would tell you to call the CAL DMV but they certainly were never much help to me. Ventana

Its '75 or older.
Per the CA DMV website (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2535) I visited this website a lot when I had to re-register mine. "Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is: Hybrid 1975 year model or older Diesel powered Electric Natural gas powered and has a Gross Vehicle Weight rating of 14,001 lbs. or more. Motorcycle Trailer "

Or you live in Inyo or Alpine counties.
No inspections there unless you transfer title. |
