2 liter Fuchs Alloy wheels - center caps

Hi 914 people

I just got a set of 914 Fuchs 2-liter alloys. They came with wheel caps that sort of protrude out (ie. not flat like, say the caps on some 911 wheels). They don't have the Porsche crest on them. My questions are these:

1. Did they come originally like these?

2. Can you get caps with the crest for these sort of wheels? Where?

3. How do get the existing caps off? Is there a special tool to use?

Thanks for any help!

Rgds

The caps are the correct ones that came with the wheels, yes. To get ones with a crest on it, you are going to basically have to deal with something poking out like that and not lay flush...unless someone made some and are now selling them, which I doubt. There is a tech article on how to make the old 924 wheel caps to have a crest on them and will fit the wheel...at least I think it is 924. Look on this site for it somewhere. It might be on this site or it might have been on the old 914 fan site, which is in lala land for all i know right now.

To push them out, there are tools that people have made, but I think you can take a spray paint canand poke them out.

Hello

1.) Yes had polished aluminium caps just look at your front bearing and you know why.

2.) had been something around on the markes. my Texas reimport has chromed plastic with crests. The PO bought them in 1974.

3.) Normaly you take the wheels off for service. if you have to balance then try to wtwist a bit or use a soft wood and press them out.

Attention they are damn expensive today.

I do not at present have a Digi camera that works. Thanks H-P, their cameras need a extra power supply. The caps have the Crest silkscreened on them, they are bright chrome. Steve
