Was Leather Interior A Factory Option?

Was leather interior available as a factory option on a '73 2.0?

No.

The 916 (What, 11 examples?) was the only one clad with a leather interior. The rest of us sweated on vinyl.

Mind you, the factory would do just about anything to your car if you waved enough money at them... I believe you could special-order the car with leather seats at the very least. Possibly more than that.

I have read in the Brett Johnson book that leather was an option for the Sixes, but I personally don't know of one that had it. Then again, I haven't sat in that many original Sixes.

Interesting. Well on my '73 2.0, it appears that the sides of the seats and the door panel caps are covered in a thin leather. They definitely don't look like the leather on modern cars today. But also don't look like vinyl. And I know they are original. Hmm....
