Hi all,
Does anyone know how feasible it is to mount chrome bumpers from a 70 onto a 75? Are the mounting points the same? Will there be any problem with any type of clearance? Thanks. |

Not easily done. The heavy '75 and '76 bumpers had the federally mandated "bumper shocks" mounted behind them. They crossed through the frame and mounted under the trunk in the rear, and just inside the front trunk (by the headlight motors) in the front of the vehicle.
Up to '74 they just mounted on the header panels in the front and rear of the vehicle, with a little rubber pad between the body and the bumper itself. I suppose it could be done, but would probably be a job. One thing to keep in mind is that the bumpers up to 74 had little rubber strips at the top that are getting to be pretty expensive. Available still, but expensive. I hear that the aftermarket strips don't have the best quality either. |

It's not that hard to it, I did on my car, the toughest part was figureing out the new hole locations. If you do go this route, I'd suggest using studs in the bumpers instead of the bolts, it'll make it much easier to install the bumpers.
The flanges can be ground off or better yet, drill out the spot welds and peel off the flange. I was a "bullet" bit drill bit which made a nice cut to remove the spotwelds. |

Mike is right the hardest part is finding the hole locations.
