They make replacement pans.... However if it is bad on the passenger side there could be more damage than you see. Check the engine compartment where the battery is mounted
check under the battery check where the lower firewall on that side and engine shelf meet. if there is rust damage in that area remove the rocker cover on that side and check the longitudial support. All this rust damage is caused by years of battery acid be washed into these areas. All these parts are availbale as replacement... ------------------

On the rust, a lengthy article is here
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/kyle_ehler_tech_series/914_floorpan.htm The short version is to buy the relacement pan. Cut and grind the old one out and replace the metal. Primer, paint and sound deaden as you prefer. Is the rust under the seat or the pedals? I have a front pan section you can have cheap! $20.00. Its missing about 2 inches, toward the rear, that was all i needed from the front section. -Rich Hilgersom |

Bumpers are really tough to straighten yourself and not have them look wavy or ripply. In fact if it's dented really badly it might just be a write-off. You'd have to get it rechromed afterwards too, asssuming it is a chrome bumper. That process alone costs $100-200 per bumper, I think. Plus you probably have to ship it unless there is a good plating shop local to you.
I have 3 dented chrome bumpers on my side yard...I ended up buying better used ones. Unfortunately they were each around $300 including new rubber tops (i.e. around $100 for the good used chrome bumper plus $200 for the new rubber cap.) But the car looks 300% better now with clean bumpers. Chris C. [This message has been edited by campbellcj (edited 06-22-2001).] |

Check out an old post:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum2/HTML/001913.html I have done the floor repairs you are talking about with out new floor pieces... cut out old, weld in new sheet metal as needed.... etc... see the post. Also, you want to check behind the back pad to see if you have any rotted through areas that are letting in water. See the picture below... I had holes on driver's and passengers side of the firewall when I bought the car, and that is probably how most of the water leaked on to the floors and rotted them away. ![]() - Dave [This message has been edited by Dave Bell (edited 06-22-2001).] [This message has been edited by Dave Bell (edited 06-22-2001).] |

I had both of my bumpers straightened and rechromed. The rear one that I had had a decent sized dent(like the size of a football) and they wanted it instead of one that I had that was originally on the car which was not chromed and had minor dents that you couldn't really tell.
Anyway, it cost around $375 for both to be straightened and rechromed. The guy gave me a little bit of a discount because he had pretty much never had them done before. Paul |
