74 1.8L L jet.
So I've been trying to get the car to run. Yesterday I discovered that my new fuel pump is not working. I took it back off and was looking at the fuel lines ( new stainless lines to the tank and up from the pump to the engine} I do have power at the plug and I also put 12V to the plug and it still won't work. One lines is bigger then the other I then looked at the pump and all the ports are the same size. So I was wondering if I had it hooked up wrong if it would starve the pump and burn it up. Why is the one ling bigger than the other??

The larger one is the supply line. I suspect it is larger specifically to denote that it is the supply line. It gets converted down in size before it connects to the pump, either by a "big-little" fuel filter or by a hose that has a larger ID on one end and a smaller one on the other end.
I do not believe that you would burn the pump out by running it with the hoses hooked up backwards, unless it was completely dry and you ran it for minutes in a row and overheated it. --DD
