Last time I heard they were going for about a $1000, for the OEM steel fender flares. Are they still available?

Check these guys out. They are awesome to work with. If they don't have it, they may make it for you. They are cheaper than anyone I have dealt with.

It is on the order of: if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Mine aren't for sale at any price.

RD does not, to my knowledge, make flares. Just repros of stock parts. In my experience, they are a huge pain in the butt to work with--they are not very good about returning phone calls or other communication most of the time. Every once in a while, they'll be great, but then the rest of the time they're nowhere to be found.

We had enough problems getting through to them that we no longer carry their parts. Too bad; they're good parts! But customers were getting upset with us that we couldn't get the body panels they had ordered to them, when we couldn't get RD to tell us when they'd be available at all!

BTW, Pelican also has the AA flares available.

The reason I'm asking is that I have set that I'm looking to sell in the very near future (long story), amongst a bunch of other parts, and I want to price them appropriately so they'll move.

Now is not a good time to sell. AA was involved in a group buy where about 30 sets were sold for something like $800. My guess is that almost everyone that needed a set in the next year has already purchased a set. You would have to price very close to the AA or Pelican list price in order to entice anyone right now. In that case, I don't think you will get full value in a quick sale.

Regardless of what any aftermarket kit is selling for, there are those who will only by OEM because of originality, concourse, or nostalgia. I wouldn't expect to pay less than $1600 for an OEM set... and not supprised to see them in the $2K field.

I was thinking of the 1000-1200 range and splitting shipping costs. Remember, the key here was moving them.

T.C.,

I completely understand your position... but please understand I am only stating my opinion based upon what I've seen in the past 7 years of being in the Porsche 914/early 911 community... including talking with those who have been immersed in the community since its conception (including a gentlemen who's had the pleasure of driving a 916 20yrs ago) and working for one of the major 914 new/used parts suppliers.

If my 914 wasn't already flared & painted, I'd buy them in a heartbeat!...(come to think of it, if tax season wasn't banging on my door I'd also buy them for backup!)

Cheers, Don
