why do my headlight lids go out of adjustment each time the lights are raised?
Am I missing a large point here? Every time I raise my headlights, they lower back to a position that's nowhere near flush with the hood.
Thanks in advance, Mark |
Someone messed with the linkage between the lights and the motors. The lights most likely were too far up when they were closed, so they moved the linkage parts around to make them flush.
If you want them to open all the way, turn the lights on and then pull the relays out of the sockets next to the headlight motors. Then turn the lights off. Pull off the round rubber cover from the linkage--it's on the side of the headlight bucket. Unbolt the linkage arm from the center pivot, and move the light all the way up. Then bolt the arm back on again. Plug the relay back in, and watch the light go down. It will probably not go down far enough... You can keep fiddling with it if you like to get some compromise. Or you can attempt to move the whole assembly in the car. Or you can un-do the mediocre collision repair work that got you into this situation in the first place... --DD |
Ok I'll try that this week, thanks Dave.
