Air injection connection to No. 3 cylinder

This weekend I removed the right-side engine tin on my '76 2.0 to make sure the internal oil cooler and cylinder fins were clear of debris (they were). When I went to reconnect the two air injector jets to the air distribution pipe for the smog pump (see Haynes manual, p. 59), I couldn't get it to line up properly at the #3 cylinder. Both of the air injector jets came out and reinstalled easily, and are not cross-threaded. The smog pump is stored right now (to save wear and tear between biennial smog checks). Will it cause any harm to leave the #3 air injector jet disconnected from the distribution pipe?

You'll probably hear a loud poping from the exhaust leak it will make. The air jets go into the exhaust port of the head right after the valve. So I would say you need to cap it off or hook it up so the one way check valve stops any exhaust leaks.

Thanks, JP. I was able to get it reconnected last night with VERY gentle assistance from a prybar.
