Altitude and Fuel Injection
I left Sacramento in my '76 2.0 and went over the Sierra's on Saturday. The higher I went the less power I had and by the time I got to about 9,000 ft it wouldn't even wind out in 2nd gear. It missed a lot and wouldn't turn more than about 4k and then was really flat. It was hardly driveable. I thought it may have been starved for air and removed the air cleaner and checked the points but it didn't make a difference. I headed on down the hill and when I was back to Sacramento (about 500 ft above sea level) it was running fine again. It may have gradually improved but since it was downhill I really couldn't test it until
I got home. Is it just running to lean or what could make such a dramatic change due to altitude? What can I do? |
