Just a quick, dumb question. Not having an owners manual for my car, I am not sure if the oil light indicates pressure or temperature. Could someone please set me straight on this?

Stress ... er ... I mean, Pressure. If both the green and red ones are lit, you haven't started the car yet.
Sorry, bad day at work. |

Has anyone ever noticed the green light on the dash come on, especially when driving in an autocross, time trial or even heavy traffic? I use a very big red light piggy backed onto the green light connector just in case! Good luck.

this is what the owner's manual says about the light: ... comes on when ignition is initially activated, goes out when running engine has reached proper pressure (actually, it only waits for like 5psi or something really low so be careful)... should it light up while driving, a malfunction in the lube system is present, stop car and check oil level, if level do not drive, take to dealer (laugh now)... an occasional flicker at idle and after a long high speed trip is also normal
hook up a mechanical gauge and look for about 10 psi per 1000 rpm when normal operating temp good luck! [This message has been edited by oc92 (edited 07-24-2001).] |

A racer's trick is to connect the oil pressure wire to the big red flashing lamp at the top (The one that indicates parking brake is on).
Also, if your light is comming on in hard cornering, you might want to check out the tech articles about some solutions to this problem. |
