The computer

I got a 74 2.0 engine that had been sitting in a closed garage for around 5 years with no preservatives. I completely rebuilt it and the only component that isn't new or proven good is the the computer. I started the car yesterday for the first time and the fuel pump does not turn off as it should when you just turn the key without starting it. I have read that the timimg for the fuel pump to turn off is the computer's responsibility. Does this point to a bad computer or could it be another single component???????? The only way i know to check the computer is by pulling every single wire from the computer and making sure they are good. Any other diagnostic tricks for the computer??????

Could be the pump relay, or possibly some of the wiring. Or the ECU.

The following article describes the fuel pump control system in detail: http://www.914fan.net/fuelpump.html
Dig through it and you should be able to find the cause of your problem.
