website idea
I just had an idea that I want to run by you guys. Is there a website out there that has a list of all 914 websites. For example. I just learned about PBMPerformance. They have the 5 lug conversion that I was looking for. (Eric Shea) There are some other great parts on that site. I was thinking of starting a website that would have a list of other 914 website and a description of what was available from them. There are many 914 websites out there, and I am sure many that I don't know about. What do you think, should I start making a list? Or has that already been done?

Does anyone have an opinion on this? Is this a waste of time, or would it help people out? Should I do it, or not?

A 914 portal is a great idea. I think there used to be one, but I can't remember what it is. You could just start a thread here and every reply could be a new site and its virtues.

If you're just talking about putting together a list of vendors and resources for 914s, that might be helpful, but most people would probably just find it easier to post a question here or on one of the other boards, or do a Google search. The trouble with any listing of what's on the web is keeping it current. When I started my 914 adventure, I found a lot of sites that obviously hadn't been updated in a long time.

I would have to agree with Rrrockhound, and how the updating to stay current on the listings would be a big time consumer.
Sure, it would be nice to see what is out there, if the site was current.

Certainly someone good program a robot to check each of the links each day and display when the site has last changed/updated.

I don't think it would be that be of a waste of time to check the websites to see if they are updated. I really don't know of that many 914 website. I think I only know of about 15 websites right now. That wouldn't take long at all to check. I wouldn't have to program a robot to check for me, I could do it. And I don't think I would have to check the websites daily. Maybe weekly. Checking the websites for updates isn't really an issue for me. I am more concerned about if the website would even be helpful for people. If the site doesn't help anyone out, then it would be a waste of time. It the site does help people out, the the time I spent on it was worth it.
It looks like I am going to start making a list of 914 websites. Okay everyone. Please PM me with 914 websites. The website doesn't just have to be about selling parts. I would love to collect a list of 914 related stuff too. Pictures, articles, stories, ect...

I think ANYTHING you can do to help perpetuate our cause and our cars is a dam good idea.
There are many fellas that think there are only a couple of places on the net to get help... Your idea could help many fellas get what they need. The trick will be to get them to your list... PM sent... Hope it helps. Regards and the very best of luck on this endeavor. Twystd1

As a 914 newbie I think this is a great idea. And I agree Eric Shea offers some nice stuff. I will PM you with the sites I have bookmarked. Thanks for doing the legwork.

It looks like this idea is going to work out. Thanks for the sites Twystd1. I only knew of a couple of those sites. They are added to my list.
Please keep the websites coming. Even if you think I already have them listed, send them anyway. As far as how people are going to know about the list. That is everyones job that is on this site and others. They should direct them to my site, after it is finished.

I have more links for you....
My only fear is that some are very esoteric and only partially have to do with type IV engines. These links are more about the internal combustion engine from a performance perspective. You want that stuff too??????? Cheers. Twystd1

Sure. Give me everything. I will look through them all and pick the ones that apply to 914 the most.
