Any issues with removing rear window permanently?
Lacking a kit which allows quick removal/install of the rear window (ala Corvette), is there anyone who has permanently removed their rear window? Any problems/issues crop up?

Don't underestimate the noise factor. Have you run without a rear window before? If not it just might surprise you.

My engine caught on fire 4 years ago. Flames 20 feet high 2" behind my head. I'll keep the piece of glass between me and the engine.

The noise is just about painful. Not a good idea, IMHO.

During a phase of my restoration, I ran without a rear window and engine lid most of a summer. I enjoyed the noise for a while. LOL. Surprising how much difference it makes on a 914. Your passengers won't get it though! LOL.
Nice Pantera. Not sure how it relates to running a 914 without the rear window, but hey. Try it! The teener probably needs fresh butyl anyway. |

Well, then the problems we brought up are not an issue. And if the obvious weather / rain getting in is not an issue.... Then... Why do you ask? Try it, and then you'll know and can tell others in the future.

There is also the heat and smell issues. Without the glass you will get both inside the cab.

Very few 914's have burned.
It is loud though. KT |
