How many members are there in VA (Richmond area?), I wonder?
I don't see many 914's on the roads here, but I've seen a few posts on this board mentioning the area. I'll get things started. Ray 73 2.0 Richmond (West End), VA Anybody else? |

I live in Arlington, VA...close enough to visit. We mentioned a VA get together a while back, I still think it'd be a fun idea.

I'm in Burke, VA, and will have my 914 on Summit Point this weekend. Drive up, see all the 914s play in an area they were designed to excel in! or not. . .

Are any of you guys going to the East Coast Ramble in NY this September? If so, we should go up as a group.

Kerry,
I'm on Three Chopt. We're neighbors! Yours is light blue, right? I haven't seen it around town (did see the website, though). I've seen a yellow 75 or 76 on Three Chopt, and a Tangerine 72 1.7 down in the Bottoms Up area. ------------------ Ray 73 914 2.0L |

Don: It figues that I have plans for a road trip (in the 914) when you'll be at Summit point. I know of another Zam Green 914/4 and I think there is a Irish Green 914/6 in Fairfax.
greenwood: The East Coast event seems mighty far away this year, don't think I'll make it. Saw a sweet 356 close to George Mason Univ a couple weekends back too. Nathan |

Great! Stop by any time and check out the teener. Mine is not on the road now, it's up on Jack stands with no engine.
![]() I would love to see you car. Any 914's passing through Richmond drop me a line. I don't see enough running 914's! 285-4171 Kerry H. |

I'm in yorktown, VA. I just finished a 74 2.0 engine moving up from a 72 1.7, what a difference. By the way, how far is Summit Point from Harrisonburg? Anyone know?

It's about an hour to an hour 15 minutes from Harrisonburg to Summit point. I used to go to JMU down there, actually I'll be in the 'burg this weekend playing golf, and driving the 914.

I'm in Fairfax. I'm in the process of adjusting the valves, and bleeding the brakes. I've got a few more things to do, but hopefully she will be on the road in a few weeks.
I would be up for getting a group of VA 914's together some time. http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/jtf914 Justin 70 914-6 |

While we have all the Va folks in one place; have any of you guys thought about getting antique license plates? It's a pretty good deal which I'm thinking about getting in on.
http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/vehicles/antique.asp There is a one time $11.50 fee and some of the benifits are: No more state safety inspection($20, just went up), no more license plate tags($26.50) and a free city sticker($35?,can't remember). So you spend $11.50 and save about $80 a year. Not to mention the pain in the a$$ of getting an inspection sticker from a guy that thinks he knows your car better then you..."looks like you've got a pretty bad exaust leak here"..."ahhh no man that's my heater duct, the exaust is back there." ![]() Use is limited to: 1. Participation in antique car club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, and similar events. 2. Testing its operation, obtaining repairs or maintenance, transportation to and from events as described in number 1 above and for the occasional pleasure driving not to exceed 250 miles from your residence. These limits are very loosely enforced and even if you get a cop that's a jerk it would be easy enough to make an excuse..."well officer, I just adjusted the valves and I was takin' her for a test drive." The only way you would be able to get away with these plates is if your teener is NOT a daily driver. Anyway, just thought I'd see if you guys knew about this loop-hole. I'll probably be gettin mine after the ECR. jeremy ![]() [This message has been edited by greenwood (edited 07-26-2001).] |

That would be sweet if it worked out. I plan on driving mine more then on weekends. I wonder if the police in Hershey, pa know or the milage laws in VA? I would hate to register the teener and have to park it more then drive it..
Let us know how things turn out. Maybe while I am working on it I'll go that route. |
