Just completed an engine swap in my 914-6 and have some Photos to share. It is a 2.5l (small stroke big bore) motor. It is very high compression (12.75:1 JE pistons) using GE-60 cams. It has the squirters and all the windage mods, big oil pump. It has large TWM throttle bodies (46 mm) and MFI with a custom space cam. I’m still fine tuning the setup, but it already runs great!

It's a 1970. It is a conversion. Very nicely done by the previous owner (even moved the key over the left side). Bulkhead motor mount, stiffening kit. Front cooler w/troutman thermostat and all braded lines. 930 suspension components, 22 mm torsion bars, 22 mm adjustable Weltmiester sway bar up front. 180 lbs spring (no swaybar) w/ boxed control arms in the rear. It has massive JFZ brakes w/vented rotors front and rear. It is just the most awesome car I have ever driven. And with this new motor...I just can't get the grin off my face.
I use 114 octane gas. It is pretty much a race motor, but it idles well and doesn’t seem to want to foul the plugs. It has no cold start enrichment or anything like that so it runs a little ruff until things warm up, but after that it is fine. The GE-60 cams are aggressive, but not much more so than the standard 's' cams of the day. The throttle response is simply wonderful! MFI are know for that, and due to the high pressure at the injector they provide really good atomization. ![]() ------------------ Mike See my cars |

Is that a power antenna where the stock battery normally resided? If not, what is that?

There is an antenna there, but it is manual. There is a permatune box (ignition) and a rather large fuel filter canister for the MFI system. It is a filter, but it also has some type of internal valve that holds pressure in the system when the pump is turned off, not really a regulator, the MFI pump has its own internal regulator.

Nice car, Mike. What brand of cage do you have in the car - or is it a custom job? I'd like to put a similar style cage in my '73 2.0 autocrosser. I also noticed you have some pics of a couple Minis on your photo site. Are they yours? What years are they? I have 1960 MK1 Mini with a 1098 (some day to be replaced by a 1275 or 1380 when time and money allows) that I bought back in April. Very fun cars!

Matt,
It is a 64 Cooper. 1275, high compression, roller rockers, weber 40 side draft, disk brakes(f), mini fins(r) 13 inch wheels. A great little (very little) car. Revolutionary car for it's time. The roll bar is a bolt in, not sure of the manufacture, it was in the car when I bought it. You can't see the passanger (that can be good or bad, I guess), but it does add stiffness, and does not get in the way of the driver or the passanger. I'll see if I can find out who makes it. ------------------ Mike See my cars |

Mike, do you know how the 914/6 steering column went in? I'm planning on doing this modification to my 914 as soon as I can figure out how it's done.
