Driver's door mirror
Just bought my first 914 and drove it home (07/14/07). Lost 4-5th gears on the way. No problem there because PO had new shift bushings in the spare parts he gave me (and I knew what was wrong because I have a 912 which needed bushings when I purchased it in '01).
My driver's door mirror will not stay put. I took it off the door and tried to tighten the nut inside but it will not tighten. The shaft (or bolt) doesn't appear to be turning so the nut may be stripped. It will not loosen (or come off) either. Any suggestion are welcome. I know, I know....buy a new one. But at $200 i'd rather fix this one as it is in good shape otherwise. Thanks ![]()

Porsche had new passenger side mirrors for like $110, only difference is convex glass.
Is it loose with respect to up/down adjust or closer/farther from car. I seem to recall you have to remove the glass from mirror to tighten up/down.

mirror adjustment
The mirror is easily, though carefully, removable exposing a nut for tightening.
