I was wondering if anyone knew of a hub adapter to fit a Nardi steering wheel to the 914.
I found a very nice wheel that would complement my car but I have no idea if it will fit. Thanks in advance, Kelly |

About 2 years ago, I bought a Dino wheel and hub kit and installed them in my '74 914. I happened to also have a Nardi wheel, and wanted to try it, as it had a bit more dish and was leather wrapped, aas opposed to the Dino which is Mahogany. I found to my surprise that the bolt pattern matched, with 1 minor differences. The hole pattern on the Nardi is 30 degrees out from the Dino (or vice versa), so it was necessary to rotate the hub conversion bracket to a position which accommodates the 30 degree shift, and still allows the turn signal mechanism to work.
I already had found that the Dino would not fit and still operate the turn signal mechanism exactly right, but it is close enough to the original center that you get used to it and don't think about it much. One other note of caution if you are changing steering wheel: the dish of the wheel is very important, especially if you are going to a much smaller wheel than stock. I found out the uncomfortable way that my Dino wheel on the standard Dino hub adaptor had too little clearance and I couldn't turn the wheel without hitting the turn signal and wiper stalks on either side of the wheel column! I solved the problem by going to the hardware store and getting longer mounting screws, hexhead black which look great, and some nylon standoffs, spacers about a half inch long. I mounted the spacers on the screws between the wheel and the hub surface and I now have plenty of clearance. A wheel with proper dish would be easier, so be sure to check on the dish before you buy. In the case where you already have the wheel, you might have to try spacers like I did (I think Momo makes spacers for their hub kits, but Dino doesn't, as far as I know. And I don't know if Momo hubs will fit your wheel or not.) Check the dish, and measure the diameter of the screw circle and ask the hub dealer to measure the hub. Email me if you want me to measure mine and I'll get you the dimensions of the Dino unit. Dave Thompson |

Kelly,
They're still available. Call 1 (800) 841 5394. I think this guy is in Georgia and is the Nardi importer (or once was). He should be able to get you the adapter. I believe Nardi and Personal wheels used the same hubs. Anyways, give him a call, he can set you up. Rob |

Thanks for the replies,
Rob-O, the Nardi importer you reffered me to said that only the 914-6 adapters were available and on special order only. He also said that they have a MOMO to Nardi adaptor that would work but I would first have to get the 914 to MOMO adapter. Dave, I searched the Nardi topic and found a web site called www.sportscar-parts.com and they quoted me $125.00 for the 914 to Nardi adapter. Dave, do you have pics of your wheel I am interested to see it. I am planning to get this adaptor and the wheel and I will try to post pics after I install it(At least a few weeks). One last question, Does anyone have the 930s steering wheel that AJ-USA sells in a 914, they advertise it to fit the 914 and its a very nice looking wheel but very pricey. thanks again, Kelly |

Has anyone adapted the Personal hubs to adapt to a Nardi wheel.
I understand that these may have the same bolt pattern and may fit. |
