Rusty Piston
 

I'm back to the forum after a long break. My car has sat outside for many years while I have been overseas. I tried to start it and long story short, it has a stuck piston.

I pulled the plugs and one was wet. Sucked many ounces of rust colored water out of the cylinder with my wife's turkey baster. Sprayed it down with Zep 45 and it still doesn't budge. I've tried turning the engine in both directions and the clutch just slips.

I'm sure the engine could use a rebuild but in the mean time, I was thinking about removing the head to try and get better access to the piston. Is it possible to remove the head with the engine in the car or is it easier to first remove the engine?

Easier to drop the engine. It is probably possible simply by lowering the engine ~6" or so, but you'll still be working around a lot of things, making up new pseudo-German swear words by the minute. (Or is that just me?? ;) ) Probably easier just to drop the whole shebang.

What fluid was in the engine? I'm guessing it was never turned over this whole time?
