Hi guys. I am looking for the rubber seal that mounts between the tail light unit and the body on a '75 914. I have never seen this seal advertised, nor the tail light unit in "new" condition. My units are fine, but the seals are shot. Any ideas where I can pick one up?
Oh, yea, before Dave goes on a rampage again, I am e-mailing PP direct to see if this can be acquired from a PP source. ------------------ Mark Howard '88 Carrera '62 356/B '75 914 1.8 resto |

Had the same problem a while ago, when I had to replace the seals on the rear lights of my car. When I checked with my local Porsche dealer I was told that these seals are part of the rear light and not available separately. I was also told that the inner part of the rear light is sold in the $350 price range.
I decided to replace my seals with self-adhesive closed cell automotive weatherstrip. It looks like it seals the rear light tight to the car body, but I had no chance to test it yet (in therms of water leaks) since it has not rained in the past month. ------------------ '74 Porsche 914 2.0l '90 VW Vanagon 1.7l Diesel [This message has been edited by yoh!!! Most people just use silicone or rope calk available from auto body paint/supply companies.
Leaks in this area are the prime cause of trunk rust. |

I once saw a seal that could use its flippers to conduct a symphony while balancing a beach ball on its nose. I thought that was pretty uncommon.
If you're still looking, I think it was in Orlando. ------------------ Ray 73 914 2.0L |
