Electrical problems

Are the wiring diagrams here in the pelican tech articles going to work with my 76? How close are the 74's to the 76's ?

I've got my DVOM handy and ready to be put to use!

This is going to be a fun list of demons to exorcise...

symptoms:

No parking lights
No tail lights
No high beams
horn honks when I go for high beams
low beams work well
cruise control is completely out
and I think the heater fan in the front trunk/dash area went up in smoke last night on my way home from picking up the car.

The wiring diagrams were actually helpful... I started poking around following the wires, and found a group of them that were all melted together. I think I am going to start with splicing in some repairs there, and see if that takes care of the headlight and horn issue.

The 76 wiring is pretty similar to the 74, with the major exception of the Dreaded Seatbelt Interlock Relay. Happily, the wiring in the later cars in that area is simplified, not more complex.

Check Haynes for 75-76 diagrams, and you can see the differences are pretty small other than that.
