Subaru conversion

I have heard alot about the subaru conversions that are being done to the 914. From what I hear, the subaru engine bolts in like it belongs there. I would like to know what is involved with adapting the subaru to the 901 transaxle, and which subaru engine is the best choice. I know there is a turbo version that makes considerable more HP, but I dont want to have to beef up the stock transaxle to handle it. I would be happy with about 200 hp. Also, what is the estimated price tag of a complete subaru swap?

This is my opinion for what its worth...

Do not convert this car. Pick something else. For every conversion out there versus a stock like car, the aftermarket is given less incentive to continue producing 914 parts and developments. You are killing us here. I want to enjoy my 914 for a while. Please don't add to the overall phenomenon. At least keep it in the family and do a 6 conversion. Some of those parts I can use.

Maybe these conversions are a drop in the bucket, but this is just an opinion.

I'm the only one who is not for it. I'll be quiet now.
