Help Please!!!

I bought a non running 73 2L. I changed the ignition parts.
The only way it will start and run is with the fuel pump unplugged. Doesn't run too well. Anyone have any ideas where to start to diagnose what is going on.
It has fuel injection.
Thanks

So with pressure from the fuel pump it will not run at all? Your cold start valve may be dumping fuel all the time, try bypassing the valve and see what you get. I'm sure you will get more ideas from some of the other more experienced owners on this board. Good Luck.

Also check to see if your head temp sensor (a square connector toward the right-rear of the engine, look for a wire coming out of the engine tin near the #3 spark plug hole) is plugged in or not.

An acquaintance of mine had a similar problem which turned out to be an unplugged HTS.

I checked the wire from the head temp sensor.
How do you check this sensor to see if it is good? The fuel injection on these cars have as much wiring as late model cars. Seems quite complicated.
