shims needed when using 911 sport mounts for 914 trans mounts?

Hello All,

I have a pair of 911 sport mounts mounted on the 914. I just came across what I think are the original trans mounts for a 914. I did not have an opportunity
to measure, but the originals definitely looked thicker than the sport mounts.

Are the originals thicker and if so, should I place shims somewhere to make up the difference? This would lower the end of the trans and slightly change the angle that the engine/trans assembly sits in the body back to original.

It would not be much, but I was thinking about the effect of a slightly raised trans would have on the shift rod as it enters the transmission.

Am I worrying about nothing?

Curt

Oh yeah, right, forgot to mention that this is a 73 914 with side shift.

And yup, there are some big upside down saucer shaped washers in there.

Thanks
