high performance engine ideas?

Hi guys... I'm rebuilding a 74 2.0l (not by choice). Anyway, I wanted to solicit some ideas on what I could do to upgrade the engine (without going to a 6 or v8, that is)- to get a few more horses out of it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I highly recommend a 2270cc type 4 for thos who want the stock cooling system, and do not want to upgrade to the 11 blade fan..

The 2270 is my most popular, and proven engine, it makes 150HP as a normal number..And it lasts a long life, almost as long as stock..

I had my 2.0 rebuilt about a year ago by a local shop. It's now rated at 135 to 140 HP. If I could do it over again I would purchase an engine (2270cc) from Jake! A much better engine at about half the cost. Of course I paid way too much for the rebuild. Hope this helps!
