Busted Windshield
Rock hit my windsheild and I'm looking for a new or a replacement.
I'm unable to find one anywhere on line, including the Pelican forum. I haven't called the LAPS yet, but would they carry one for a 914? Can anybody help out here? ![]() |

Windshields for these cars aren't hard to find. Sometimes they come up on eBay if you want to change it yourself. I cracked mine trying to remove the rearview mirror mount. I had no problem finding a replacement through a local auto glass dealer. They came out and replaced it in my driveway. I got a jump on the job by taking the old glass out myself. The hardest part is removing the bright metal molding without bending it, because replacement molding is hard to find, at least cheaply. I used a putty knife to pry it off carefully. My only complaint is that the tinted band at the top of the new glass makes the car look too "modern".

I have used SafeLite several times and they do a great job. Once I had to clean out some surface rust in the lower corners and preserve the area and the guy came back two days later to finish the job. They also have the black rubber trim that cam be used instead of the aluminum if yours is in bad shape.

Thanks for the replies, this will help alot.
I intend to do the job myself. I want to pull the dash and have it repaired and check for rust along windshield area as the seal leaks. |

Available
It really depends on how much money you want to spend. They are still available from PORSCHE. $300.00 for the non - tinted. About a month wait from Germany. I think PPG is around $250.00. Easy to install. Recommend new trim clips if you are going to try and save your molding. I think one place still has the molding/parts complete. How is it running?

Dash to windshiled seal
Don't forget the dash to windshield seal. This one may be NLA. I bought the one for my blue car from STODDARD, and I was told it was the last one in the PORSCHE inventory, world wide. I think there is a repro, George Hussey may have a substitue.

Yeah, I need the dash to windshield seal as well, any body know where to get it besides Hussey. Still have the molding but found that there were no clips. Also found some rust around the sill.

Just did this last week. Safelite was $321 installed. Topshade or not is the same price.
