I bought new manifold-to-head gaskets for
my motor over the winter, and they looked different than what I'd had on there from the PO carb conversion. ( 40 idf's on a stock 2.0L )The ones I got fron PP looked to be made of plastic, quite thick in fact ( approx 1/4"). Did I get the ones for FI instead of webers, and is this going to cause vacuum leak issues? |

You got the ones for f.i. I'm in the process of putting dual 40 IDF's on my '75 1.8 and I'm going to try to use the thick ones to use as heat barrier.

Not a good idea, the plastic will cause an air leak. Use just the paper gasket.Steve

Thanks! I knew that had to be the reason for that backfire, I just didnt want to start spraying carb cleaner around my freshly painted engine tin to check it.

Actually the bakelite German style have a thin layer of paper on them, when it gets hot they bond super well to the surfaces..I either use these type, or the performance paper style, according to headwork..
