Relay Board Relays 1974 1.8

FOR SOME REASON I HAVE NEVER CHECKED THE RELAY BOARD ON MY 1974 1.8, RECENTLY UPON DOING SO I WAS SUPPRISED TO SEE 3 OF THE 4 ROUND RELAY SOCKETS ARE VACANT. THE REAR ON IS IN( HEATER FAN) THE REST ARE EMPTY. . MANUALS SAY THEY ARE FOR POWER SUPPLY FOR FUEL INJECTIION, & FUEL PUMP. ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT IN IT SEEMS TO RUN FINE , WHAT GIVES?

The EFI power relay and fuel pump relay functions on the 1.8 are taken over by the "dual relay" that hangs off of the battery tray.

You can put relays in those sockets and treat them as "on-board spares".

Easiest way: Swap them in for the round relays up at the front of the front trunk, next to the headlight buckets. If the headlights go up and down OK, the relays are OK.
