Question Fog lights installation

Thinking about adding fog lights to the front bumper of my '74. Car did not have them originally. Is the necessary wiring already installed in the factory wiring harness to the front of the car from the fuse panel and to the dash OR do I have to wire in everything? I was hoping to have to add only the lights, the switch in the dashboard, and change the grills. Thanks for the info!

The wires should be there already in a 74. Check the wiring diagrams for the colors of wires that are used, and hunt around for those wires. They're often folded up and taped out of the way.

the wires are there on my '74, but im debating whether to install fogs. The hole is also already in the dash, you can feel it through the basketweave face, i assume all you need to do is make a slit or 2 on the hole area, so you dont have to hack up the vinyl. Let us know how it goes, and take some pics! -JON

It should be there on all 73+ 914s, but only some of the earlier ones.

Hey Dave, I've recently installed working (new) fogs into my 914, though, there appears to be a relay to the fog lights that might be missing/dead as my switch illuminates but no power to the fogs: all the fuses are in-place and good. I've heard the fuse is mounted on the top-side of the fuse block (you have to remove the phillips screws and drop the fuse box down), but I"ve not had time to do that yet: is this correct?

Thanks! Mark.

You mean the relay is? Yes, that's where the fog light relay would go.
