Weber "chirping" then detonates after shutoff
I've cranked my heat exchanger bolts down
and that GREATLY reduced the backfiring, but it still backfires on downshifting or getting off the throttle while in gear at low rpms. It also backfires once after I ahut it down and one of the carbs makes a "chirping: sound at idle. Sound familiar to anyone? I'm starting to suspect the Compufire might have something to do with this backfiring, but does anyone recognize that "chirping" sound as being symptomatic of anything in particular? thanks |
Next to the idle mixture is the throttle plate bypass. They are the fine adjustment for sync-ing the carb. I found when I was learning to adjust and sync my carbs that you will hear a chirping sound at idle if these are backed out to far. If the sound goes away when the throttle is off idle, there is a good chance that it is one of these adjusters.
