Unhappy Electrical Gremlins....Any assistance is appreciated.

I need an electrical education....

I am in process of re-assembling my '75 914 1.8 and am having a difficult time with the electrical system. The car was in poor shape when I got it, but everything electrical worked except the aux heater blower and the fresh air fan. During disassembly, I was careful to mark the locations of the wires to the gauges and such, but during the resto process, tape fell, wires got moved, you know the deal.

Is there any source out there that has PICTURES of the components (like the rear taillight assembly) that show where the wires go? Any internet sites? I have looked at the wiring diagrams on PP, but I really don't understand them and they don't show where to "plug things in". I would really like to learn how to use the diagrams, but a novice on his own with electricity....I don't think so.....

thanks in advance...

I can't offer any rocket science since I'm a novice with electricity myself. However, Dave Darling showed me how to read the electrical schematic. The schematics show wires stopping numbers. These numbers are terminals or devices that the wire attaches to, i.e. the back of the tail light.

If you look next to the terminals on the tail light there are small numbers on the plastic. These numbers correspond to the electrical schematic. Just find the number and look at the schematic to see what color wire you need to hook up.

I pretty sure that's how it works. Guys/gals please correct me if I'm wrong and feel free to expand on my answer.
