Ft Worth 914 Mechanic?

Anyone know of a 914 mechanic in the Ft Worth Tx area? I need some motor work I don't have the equipment or knowhow to do...
I checked all the local Porche garages, and they laughed me out - you know, those 911 types. Thanks for the recommendation.

Not in Ft. Worth, but there are a few in the general DFW area.

Ed Mayo runs a shop somewhere thataway. He's the PCA 914 Tech Rep, so he knows a little bit about these cars.

Wes Hildreth out in Plano (I think??) has done quite a bit of 914 work.

If you're more the DIY type but need extra hands and knowledge, Clay Perrine is a really good guy to know. He usually hangs out on the 914world BBS, but he pops up here every once in a while.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Have you tried Zims (Hurst/Bedford/Irving area)? They've been around a long time and I did some business with them back in my "914" days . . . recently spent a lot of money there getting an alignment and A/C upgrade done to my 930 . . .

Their web addy: http://www.***********/service.html

What kind of motor work do you need, and how do you know?

work

It's a '74, 1.8 that has been sitting for the past 20 years. I've done all the basics, new gas tank, lines, vac hoses, injectors, cap rotor, plugs, etc. Now it's together, it won't start. AS I find a post on starting problems, I'm going through those. Today I discovered the transmission ground was very rusty. Tomorrow I'll clean and replace that, but I'm, not a motor mechanic. I"m looking for someone that can either help and walk me through getting the car started - willing to pay for help - or a garage that's not too proud to work on a 914. Thanks if you know someone. I'm near the DFW airport inbetween Dallas and Ft Worth.

I'll come by and we can run thru some basics just to see what you have. First we'll determine if it's an ignition or a fuel problem. I'll need to read up on Ljet some. I presume it works similar to Djet in Fuel pump pressurization, etc.

I"ll send my cell number to the email.
