914 wheels?
i am from the 944 post and saw on the back of the 944 haynes manual the 944 has the 914 style wheels (the ones that are shown as the picture above 911 parts on the pelican main page) and i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get some for cheap and if anyone knows if they will fit a 944 with out changing anything...?

Those are called 'fuchs' and they were only available from the factory as an option on the 709 and 71 914/6, all other 914's had four bolt hubs.
They were sold in quantity on 911s between the late sixties and the late eighties, and are better known as a 911 wheel really. IIRC they were available on 944s too. The bolt pattern is the same on all 5-bolt porsches and they will fit, though post '86 944s were sold with rear fuchs that had a deeper backspacing, so you could use wider rubber. Only the 6 and 7" X 15 fuchs are what I'd call cheap. 16's are dear. ------------------ -- Dave Pics of my '73 project here: http://members.tripod.com/mike4g/dds73_b4pics.htm |
