Side shift conversion help
I trying to put the adaptor bushing in the firewall of my 914 and i can seem to get it in. i see that it is a extrealy tight fit. Is there an easyer way of getting it in there other than hitting it with a big socket and hammer?

Make some narrow slits around the outside.this will make it easier to pound it in. Steve

I start one side in and use a large blunted screw driver to push in the other side working around the bushing and it pops in. Good luck.

yet i have encounterd a new problem. i got the bushing in but now when i put the shift rod in it gets stuck on the pan. it gets to that wonderful point where you have no access or possible vision and seems to hit something ither up or down. i can force it though without much trouble but then i cannot raise it to connect the shifter.
there is one other question Does the part of the linkage go all the way inside the tunnel?? or does part of it stick out? ------------------ Sweet Blue 72' 914 Check it out at http://www.geocities.com/eat_um_up/914.html |
