1.8 single carb vs 2xweber 34's
finally drove the 914 with the new carbs in, went from a single progressive to dual weber 34's.
Results: car runs cooler! Also the linkage is not dialed in yet as I had some rough running and traced it down to one carb opening sooner than the other, I have it close but I need to get some parts made to get the linkage permanant(support bar). Also the problem is solved: the car would die on idle sometimes, pretty sure it was a worn throttle shaft on the old carb. An advice on getting the linkage dialed in? Also any advice on adjusting the carbs? They are simple just 2 screws each.

What a coincidence. I just finished syncing the weber 34's on my 1.8L. It was running very rough and now is smooth as silk. You need to use a carb synchronizer tool which measure the air flow rate through the carb. I have an old meter that has a vertical glass tube with a float ball in it that varies in position based on the air flow rate. There are newer ones that are more like a dial. Pelican sells the newer type. I sync the carbs at idle, 2000, and 3000 rpm. It can be time consuming and frustrating as you keep checking and adjusting...
