Post First aid kit > Mechanicaly speaking of course

I am about to embark a 6-hour drive - to the East Coast Ramble in NY state - with my newly completed 914/6 conversion.

What first aid kit - parts, tools, etc - should i bring with me to cover the basics and the not-so basics.

Also, is there some sort of list of 914 generic troubles and their solutions that someone coul lead me to?

Thanks to all.

AAA card and enough on a credit card to get it home. I'd try to get several hard runs in locally before you go to see if it has any problems and try a run in the rain to see what happens when it gets wet too. I took tons of 914 parts on our 800 mile to the porsche Parade last year and our Turbo burned up the CDI box! Go figure. Good luck on the run.

Hello

Depends on the quality from the conversion.
I would recomend spare fuel and oil and a AAA policy. $ help too.

Also a 911 alt belt. Might not be able to replace it with the motor in the car though.

I would also take a tool to tighten up the CV bolts

Cool

I just finished my conversion several weeks
ago. Put about 3 hundred miles on it and had a Exhaust rocker shaft back out. I am replacing it today but will not take it to the ECR until I but a least 2 - 3 hundred trouble free miles on the engine again, so we will be taking the 911 to ECR. I also need new Tires and alignment done.

I would take an Extra set of plugs... Fire Extinguisher... Some type of Jack and jack stands. Extra Clucth and throttle cable

Passport, and food for while you wait at customs.

Duct tape, vise grips, silicone, work gloves, hand cleaner, lots of cash.

Let see ... what would I always carry (for long trips)?
  • 1 ATM/Debit card (bank or credit union).
  • 1 Platinum MasterCard/Visa card (your choice).
  • 1 AAA Plus card (don't leave home without it).
  • 1 cell phone (long-distance plan included).
  • 1 lantern (wide-beam; vital for successful ditch-jumping).
  • 1 vehicle (non-914, still under factory warranty).
Try as you'd like, it's always the part that you DON'T carry/have that breaks/fails, and the nearby FLAPS doesn't know what the HECK a 914 is anyways.

Put a few thousand "sortin' out" miles on your "newly completed 914/6 conversion" first, before you attempt/risk a journey like that. It's 6-hours there AND 6-hours back; quite a long walk, I think.
