Post Current draw of stock fuel pump

Does anyone know what a stock 1.7L fuel pump (1972) draws in current? This project is a V8 conversion and I am thinking about using the fuel pump relay to feed the new engine's HEI ignition (with the proper point tied to ground so it stays hot with the ignition switch on. Or I could use the stock ignition feed (if it can handle the current) and run this lead to the electric choke of the carb. Thanks for the input.

Eric

fuse her with a 5 amp. should do it. i would not go much higher than that. you could use the stock lead, feed right off the relay board or even go off the coil.
