Question Resource for BMW Calipers for Conversion?

Does someone have a good resource for 320i Calipers?

I got mine on sale at my FLAPS for less than $100 for a pair.

Yes, you can get them at Pep Boys etc. pretty cheaply -- rebult w/ warranty -- BUT if you have a 73 or newer 914 then they need to be machined. I haven't tried very hard, but to date I have not located a shop here in the West L.A. vicinity that can do it for me. I have heard that some machine shops refuse to touch brake parts these days...other than turning rotors at least.

I believe Perry Kiel of 914 Network (don't have his phone number. or E-mail handy) sometimes has machined calipers for the later cars available. A few years ago European Car Magazine was running a series of articles on working up a 914. One of their pieces was on a set of 320i calipers they got from German Parts and Restoration (********.com), and I think they still have the machined calipers too.

GPR does sell the calipers ready to bolt-on...but it's about $400! The calipers by themselves are less than $150/pair at the FLAPS. That's an awfully big premium to charge for a few minutes of milling work.

WAYNE...can you help out on this one???
