Alternator Change ???????
I realy hate to post this one as it describes an incredibly stupid action. I can't even pretend that it was some other guy (I wish).
When changing head light bulbs I cleverly left the lights on long enough to discharge the battery. Now come the good part. I stuck the battery charger on with reverse polarity. After this the battery would not take any charge. - Installed new battery. Now the alternator will not show a charge. In fact the alternator light comes on when the key is off. Alternator diodes or relays?? Is it possible to change the alternator without dropping the engine?? 1974 - 1.8 - 914 Gennaro |
Dude ...
Tell the entire story again ...

Diodes: yes.
Alternator replacement: yes. Without removing the engine: yes. There's a Tech Article on this site about changing the alt. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I didn't have a digital camera at the time. --DD |
