Post Oil Temp Gauge

I'm accumulating parts for an external oil cooler per the Pete Dubler article. Additionaly, I'm going to put in an oil temperature guge with real numbers. I plan to run new wires and put the new gauge into the stock position in the sump, and move the OEM sensor to a fitting in the oil return line from the cooler/thermostat. Will Teflon tapeseal cut through enough to give a good electrical contact when installing the sensors? Any other techniques to getting these into position and getting good connections?

Thanks,
Harvey
