Post Reservoir lines on master cyl

Does anyone know how to slip the reservoir lines and grommets back into the master cylinder. There is no space to work under there. If there is still fuild in the cylinder and lines, can I still drive the car safely to a shop with a lift or am I playing with fire.

Thanks

1. A cheap screwdriver bent at the tip. Dont nick the seals.
2. if you need more room, lift the car (jack stands all around)
3. Get mad enough to do it with your bare hands. (my preferred method)

How about just loosening the reservoir from its mounting and dropping it down a few inches towards the gas tank to get a good grip on it?

I assume one would drain the reservoir completely before trying to change the lines or a MC.

Thats what I did drain and loosen the resivior to give you some extra length.

Snap in the lines...
Then bolt in the MC....

I just did mine and used the "neanderthal technique". I tried all the other methods with no luck and finally got pissed. I placed the rubber grommets into the master cylinder(removed)and pushed the resevoir lines into the grommets (lubed up), just like that, quick and dirty! It is amazing how some simple jobs on the 914 get so complicated.

Regards,
Tom
