Post Side shifter, rear rod wear...ouch, sounds painful.

greetings fellow "14" fools...

Took a close look at the rear shift rod on my 73 this evening. I knew the rear bushing was worn, but the end of the rod, the solid part, has worn about 1mm or less at the bushing friction point. My question is...How tight is a new bushing on the shaft. The worn bushing measured about 16mm I.D. and the shaft measure about 14mm O.D. @ the friction area..the solid rod end is also pitted...How much play at this point is acceptable? Thoughts? Replace the end? Is there a bronze bushing for this point?

Thanks. Scott
