Throttle switch question
 

In the tech bulletin on "setting the throttle switch position" it mentions that some 76 2.0's may require further adjustment after initially setting the switch. Does further adjustment mean indexing the switch one notch up or down beyond the setting prescribed using an ohm meter? I set mine according to the procedure and it still bucks
under acceleration. This happens more so in the evening when the air temperature drops. As fall approaches here in N.Cal. I have noticed that the bucking gets worse. I also have an RPM surge at idle 850/900 down to 500/400 and back up again. This 2.0 liter is a non-egr/non-catalyst model. What should I be looking for?
I also noticed tonight that my voltage guage drops down to about 10/11volts with headlights on and heater lever activated. The car started bucking/nmissing I believe due to lack of voltage. Should I also check out the voltage regulator and if so how should I do this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Adjusting the switch will not fix the bucking problem. The adjustment sets the switch so that when the throttle plate is closed, the idle switch is "on", activating the idle circuit in the ECU. Bucking is caused by worn accelerator switch tracks. You can try cleaning the switch, but it usually goes back to bucking in a short while. Replace your switch, that's the best way to fix the problem. If you have any doubt that the switch is the source of the problem, disconnect it and go for a drive. The car will accelerate slowly, but if the switch is the cause of the bucking, it will go away. Check my page for other information on the throttle switch.
