6-conversion > missing cyl > solved!!!
To all who followed this epic, now running on 6. The problem was a clogged main jet and emulsion tubes. It took 5 minutes to take the carbs out, clean and put them back. Now firing on 6...
If only i could get rid of that dense bluw smoke. Could it be that all of the oil accululated since the time i run it - 3000KM - is now burning all at the same time? Or i DO have a bad rings problem. Compression is about 90-100 in that cyl. Thanks for replying. |
Any accumulated oil should burn out in a matter of minutes.
Compression should be 125-135 (don't forget to open the throttle). Rings or valves....you pick. A leakdown test would tell you which, however, it's a moot point. The engine has to come apart either way. One could live with it.....for a while. The only caveat here is if the motor has worn valve guides (which will make the motor smoke). The original guides are good for 60/80K miles. If the guides are bad,the valves cannot transfer heat away to the heads. Overheating of the valves can lead to failure. That gets messy. Hummm......winter projects.
Better rear brakes......anybody have some good "M" rear calipers F/S? New dizzy and MSD install. Pull the motor and fix that %@*&$ oil leak. Set up the truck for towing. Get trailer. Cabinets in the shop. Insulate the overhead........I need a nap. JPIII |
