V8 Q: Flat Headlights
I'm looking to build an autocross car that's also street-legal. In adding a V8, I need to gain some room in front (for twin radiators), and so I'm interested in making all gone with the pop-up headlights. I've got an idea that looks like it will work pretty well, but I'm curious if anybody else has already replaced the pop-ups with light and small fixed units?

Check out Michael Nugent's Porsche 914 'lite'. He's replaced the trunk lid with a fiberglass version, and installed Geo Metro headlights where the fog lights used to be.
http://home1.gte.net/nugentmd/914lite.htm You may need to check headlight height restrictions - I know a few Boxster owners who've been busted just by lowering their cars a few inches. This may be too low...or |

Thanks. I've already been in touch with Michael on that subject. His solution doesn't work for me for another reason, which is that I'll be using a fiberglass front end that doesn't have provision for fog lights. His lights are also too low, but flat lights in the stock locations will be marginally illegal as well. Everything is these days. :-(
