Question rear calipers piston won't retract

I decided, I was going to rebuild my rear calipers. I have the kits, and I was putting all the brakes on tonight. I cracked open the rear calipers, and I TRIED driving the piston all the way out with the adjusting screws. No go. I think it actually stripped my metric allen wrench (its craftsmen, i'll trade it in). What can I do?

I put the calipers on with no pads on the rear, and pumped it up. the pistons didn't seem to budge. I'm at a loss of what to try next. I sprayed wd40 all over them, couldn't get anthing.

Man, I get these working, a tire, fix the spring so the brake pedal returns, and get the second bolt out of the accel pedal mount and put in my new one, and i can actually move my car.

Be careful trying to get those rear pistons out. On the side without the ratchet just keep turning until nothing happens and then tab the allen in the adjuster with a hammer and the piston and all should pop out. For the side with the adjuster... you have to dissassemble the adjuster hardware before you can get the piston out. It is screwed in and you will strip the screw trying to get the piston out any way other than using that screw (ask me how I know). I am still trying to figure out how to re-die that screw. It is not hard, just takes a lot of patience and wiggling of the hardware until it comes out. If you want, I will post a pic of a disassembled one I have on my workbench.

Remove the 13mm jam nut and cir-clip before tapping the screw and piston out.

Pistons tend to get cocked and jammed, I used Channel Locks with vacuum tubing on the jaws to twist and wiggle the pistons out.

DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR!!! as you would in most calipers, I ended up with a face full of brake fluid. ER bill $400, rebuilt calipers are cheaper but then I would have missed out on having suction cups attached to my eye balls while 1000 cc's of saline was used to flush them out.

...wasn't the first time...and less said about stiches in my house, the better.

Wink

Right where they belong... sitting on the bench next to me. Sheesh, what do think I am a 'idoit'

Seriously, I wear them all the time now, I have about 4 pairs so I can always find one.

Question

Well, I couldn't get either adjuster to turn either way. Which way do I turn the adjusters? clockwise? I have the calipers on the car right now, hoping the brake system will help free the pistons. I'll probably take them off tomorrow night and try again.
I'll snap a few pics then as well.
