Exclamation Rocket City Ramble, Oct 16- 19, Huntsville AL

The inaugural Rocket City Ramble will be held in Huntsville, Alabama from October 16-19, 2008. Considered to be the Silicon Valley of the South, Huntsville is largest city in Northern Alabama and is just south of hilly Southern Tennessee. The area promises great driving for 914 enthusiasts!

Event: We assembled an exciting schedule of events for the entire weekend, including: Car Show, Swap Meet, Poker Run to the Jack Daniels Distillery, Tech Quiz, Scenic Tour, Technical Seminars, and an Autocross! This is a very scenic area of the country and we’ll include several drives in and around Alabama and Tennessee. For a detailed schedule of events, click here!

Registration: To make registration as easy as possible, we're using motorsportsreg.com. CLICK HERE to register! You can send us your registration info & t-shirt size, pay via credit card or echeck. Or, you can register online and mail a check/money order to cover the registration fee ($73/person). Also, if you have a co-driver attending with you, that person will receive a 20 dollar discount on their registration (there is a code for you to use during the sign-up).

Your registration fee covers:
  • Entry into all the events and activities (less AX fees)
  • Welcome packet & goodie bags
  • Thursday night dinner at tech session
  • Saturday night Awards Banquet meal
  • Rocket City Ramble t-shirt
  • Trophy Costs for all competitive events

Hosts: The RCR is graciously hosted by the Heart of Dixie PCA Chapter. Also, our attendees have been invited by the Twickingham Auto Club (SCCA) to join their autocross! Thank you to both clubs for your support. (Please note, you do not need to be a PCA member to attend this event. There is no membership sales pitch! Also, SCCA autocross fee will include a 3-day SCCA membership, if you are not already an SCCA member!)

Autocross: We will be joining the local SCCA chapter on Sunday, October 19th for the Autocross at the Milton Frank Stadium. This is an excellent spot for autocross with virgin (unsealed) blacktop. For all autocross participants, there will be an Autocross Tech Class on Friday afternoon. Autocross fees will be $30 ($35 for non-SCCA members). We will collect cash or checks payable to the local SCCA chapter during registration.

Lodging: Primary lodging for this event will be at the Marriott Space and Rocket Center. They have reserved the following for us: a dedicated parking area, a swap-meet location and a hospitality room. We've arranged a RCR discount rate for the rooms of approximately $98 with breakfast for two ($88 without breakfast). We recommend the breakfast! Please contact them direct and mention "Rocket City Ramble" when securing room reservations, phone (256-830-2222).

The deadline to reserve rooms at this price is July 1st! After that, we lose the room block. To cut costs, we might have some space for folks to crash with sleeping bags in the hospitality room... but space will be limited. Send us a note at info@rocketcityramble.com if you want do to that.

Everything is coming together for the RCR. We might move a dinner location, but it is shaping up to be a really fun time.

Hi everyone!

Just a reminder that registrations are open right now!! You don't need to pay immediately to register, but get your name on the registration list! smile.gif

We're planning a cap at 90 participants, based on the room we're using for our final banquet.

We've promised our local PCA region that after a certain cut-off date (still to be determined), we're going to open it up to non-914 PCA folks who might want to come hang out with us. As most of these guys don't have much 914 exposure, it will be a great opportunity to educate other Porsche owners about our passion!

If you know someone who might be interested, please encourage them to register early. I want every 914 owner who wants to attend to have first-shot at getting into the Ramble!

I can't believe this is finally only a month away. I can't wait!!! We have a great turnout- some perfect stockers, wild racers, and radical conversions (the ALIEN and several other super-tricked out cars) will be here.We got a buncha volunteers now, and two trunks full of door prizes (hehe). The banquet at the officers club should be quite a stylin' event. I'm wondering if one of us- well them- spanks all the other AX crowd. I got my new panorama with the AX result from the Parade at Charlotte. The windshieldless 914-4 (highly stripped and modified, but with a 2056 type IV engine) I remember seeing was whole seconds ahead of everything else on the course. Maybe we have one of those upsets coming up, eh? We've got great trophies (each hand made) that will be great on display. Its gonna be fun giving 'em out. There are quite a few catagories in the car show. This ain't no concurs, so we get to go a little out in the weeds- like "dirtiest engine bay". Hey, a trophy is a trophy!

Hope that if there are any undecided folks out there they realize that this opportunity shouldn't be missed!!!
