Newer, Faster BBS Coming!!!
 

Hello there everyone. I would first like to thank everyone for making this BBS a success. Without your support and interaction, then it really wouldn't exist. The 914 BBS is by far the most successful of our BBS areas, and once again, I thank you.

There have been some recent complaints in the past few months about how doggedly slow this site, and this BBS has been. I will tend to wholeheartedly agree with this. Our site is currently hosted on the same internet connection that the Porschelist server is hosted on. That thing has been so successful (over 12000 subscribers), that it just hogs up the internet connection. Everytime that someone sends out an email to the list, the machine sends out more than 4000 emails! This happens all day long, and severely hogs the internet connection.

Well, good news. After a year of being on John's server, we are moving closer to home. Starting (hopefully by Friday, Jan 15th), we will be on a new server here in Southern California. This machine will be located very close to our home office, and should be significantly faster than the machine that we are currently on.

In the transistion of the BBS to this new home, it might be unavailable, or we might temporarily lose some new posts that are there. I am working to download the BBS in chunks to the new machine, but if someone posts after I download, and then switch on the new server, there might be some posts temporarily lost. Please be patient - I will work hard to make sure that they get put back.

Let me be the first one to commend you for the great job you have done on your website. And two, HOORAY for switching servers. My brother and I have joked about you needing to tighten up the string on your tin can. Just kidding. I know if you had your choice you wouldn't be sharing your string with the Porsche list. Anyway, keep up the good work and as Captian Kirk would say, Scotty, I need more power.
